Deadlines April 31, October 31 each year
The contest accepts submissions every day of the livelong year.
Entries received after deadlines will be entered into the next running contest.
Winning stories are published in the Mama's Memoirs Hall of Fame. Winners receive services for a 20 page tribute or memoir album.
Once a year, on January 1, Grand prizes of $1 per entry received are awarded to best story.

By submitting entries to the Contest, the entrant agrees to abide by all Contest rules.
Rules:- 1)Any method of entry is allowed from email to written to audio and video. Story must be a true story or family legend from you or someone you know. You may enter as many stories as you would like.
- 2) No entry fee is required, and all rights in the story remain the property of the author after the 6 months of the contest is over.
- 3) All entries must be original works, in English. Plagiarism, which includes the use of third-party poetry, song lyrics, characters or another person's universe, without written permission will result in disqualification. Adult content, as determined by the judges, will result in disqualification. Entries may not have been previously published in professional media.
- 4) The Contest is open only to those who have not had professionally published a novel or short novel, or more than one novelette, or more than three short stories, in any medium. Professional publication is deemed to be payment, and at least 5,000 copies, or 5,000 hits.
- 5. Entries may be entered in any medium. Each hard copy entry must have a cover page with the title of the work, the authors name, address, telephone number, email address, who you are entering for, why you want them or yourself to win, and how many future contests you want your entries in (if no number is present, we assume 1 contest running only). Every subsequent page must carry the title and a page number, but the author's name must be deleted to facilitate fair judging. All entries in all media must include a short section with: title of the work, the authors name, address, telephone number, email address, who you are entering for, why you want them or yourself to win, and how many future contests you want your entries in (if no number is present, we assume 1 contest running only).
- 6. entries will be returned after judging only if the author has provided return postage on a self addressed envelope. If the author does not wish return of the entry, a #10 (business size) self-addressed, stamped envelope (or valid email address) must be included with the entry in order to receive judging results.
- 9. Entries will be judged by Mamas Memoir Staff. The decisions of the judges are entirely their own, and are final.
- 10. Winners in each contest will be individually notified of the results by mail.
- 11. The Contest is open only to entrants from Dallas Ft Worth Metroplex

- 13. Grammar, punctuation or spelling errors will count against your entry, so proofread thoroughly.
- 14. entries that do not conform to contest guidelines, and entries sent to any address other than the designated contest address will be disqualified. Mama's Memoirs and its staff are not responsible for any electronic transmission problems. All electronic entries: Your Subject Line MUST Read: "Mama's Memoirs Contest Entry". This is to avoid being eaten by the spam filter!
- 15. First, second,* and third* place stories are published in Mama's Memoirs Hall of Fame. Honorable mentions may also be awarded. (*Mama's Memoirs reserves the right to not award second and third place if the quality of the entries does not meet the Hall's standards and to award additional places for outstanding entries.)
- 16. Feedback on submissions will be limited to a few lines and may include some judges' comments.
- 17. By entering a contest, you grant Mama's Memoirs exclusive rights for a period of 6 months, as well as a non-exclusive right to maintain a copy of published work in the Hall of Fame indefinitely. You retain all other rights, including the right to publish the work in any form at any time. Any subsequent publication should include the credit "originally published by Mama's Memoirs." "Exclusive rights" means that you agree not to re-publish your work elsewhere while the contest featuring your work is current. "Publish" means any public display of your work, and includes your personal website and posting to message boards. Once the contest has been archived, you are free to re-publish your work anywhere.
- 18) Stories must adhere to the topic of family or personal stories and must be true stories or family lore.
- 19) Entries are blind-judged by All Mamas Memoirs staff. The judges' decision is final. Winners are announced On the 7th day after each deadline.
- 20. Stories should be essentially true, but do not need to have journalistic accuracy. This is your version of what happened. Creative license can be taken in order to recreate dialogue that took place 20 years ago, for example.
- 21. You may use pseudonyms to identify the people in your story; however, please indicate that you have done so on your entry.
- 22. Please remember that this is a non-fiction contest; stories must be about something that actually happened, not something you invented.
- 23. There is no word limit, but be advised that very short entries might be over looked.
- 24. You will receive an email from the Mama's Memoirs Staff confirming Our receipt of your entry. If your entry is not eligible, you will receive an email from the Mama's Memoirs staff explaining why it did not meet the competition requirements. Either way, an email will be sent to you within approximately two (2) business days of our receipt of your entry.
- 25. Entries may not include adult language or themes.
- 26. From a legal standpoint, all writers automatically have a copyright on any material they create at the moment they create it. This is often referred to as a common law copyright, which covers the writer for her entire lifetime plus 50 years, but it is always a good idea to copyright anything you put a lot of time into before submitting them anywhere!
- 27. After the contest, All entries will be kept on a jump drive in a drawer and a hard copy will be kept on a book shelf in our office.
